The Dual Duel Grooming Challenge

Friday July 24th PM

Two Groomers • One Dog • Maximum Chaos (the good kind)

Back by popular demand, the Dual Duel Grooming Challenge is one of the most entertaining events at Mastergroom Canada — and it’s been a fan favourite since 2015 for a reason.

In this high-energy crowd-pleaser, teams of two groomers work together on a single dog while navigating creative themes, surprise twists, and plenty of playful antics. Expect big personalities, quick decisions, teamwork under pressure, and yes… friendly bribery for the judges is not only allowed, it’s encouraged.

This isn’t about perfect trims or serious competition — it’s about fun, creativity, and celebrating the lighter side of our industry. If you’ve ever been curious about competing but felt intimidated, the Dual Duel is the perfect way to jump in with a friend, laugh your way through it, and enjoy the experience without the pressure.

Come cheer, laugh, and enjoy one of the most unforgettable moments of the Mastergroom weekend.

Friday Night Welcome Party at Mastergroom Canada

Food • Fun • Karaoke • Dogs • Community
Dog-friendly event

Let’s start the weekend the right way.

Join us Friday night for the Mastergroom Canada Welcome Party — a lively, relaxed, and slightly ridiculous evening designed to bring everyone together before the busy days begin. This dog-friendly event is all about good vibes, great company, and kicking off the weekend with laughter.

There will be food, drinks, music, and karaoke — hosted by the one and only Colin Taylor, who will keep the laughs coming and the mic moving. Whether you’re brave enough to sing, happy to cheer from the sidelines, or just here for the people (and dogs), there’s something for everyone.

This is the night to reconnect with old friends, meet new ones, and soak up everything that makes the Mastergroom community so special. No pressure. No competition. Just fun.

Tickets are limited and this party always sells out — grab yours early so you don’t miss out on one of the most fun nights of the weekend.

Cat Grooming Competition – Lion & Creative Classes

9am Sunday

Mastergroom Canada is pleased to offer two dedicated cat grooming competition classes: Lion Trim and Creative Cat. These classes are designed to showcase technical skill, precision, and artistic expression while maintaining the highest standards of feline safety, comfort, and professionalism.

All cats entered must have a minimum of six (6) weeks of coat growth prior to the competition.

Lion Trim Class

The Lion Trim class highlights clean execution, correct patterning, balance, and finish in a traditional feline trim.

Style Requirements

  • The mane must be clearly defined around the neck and throat.
  • Mane patterning on the throat may vary, provided it remains intentional and balanced.
  • Legs must be finished as distinct long or short boots and may not be a continuation of the mane.
  • A standard lion tail with a tuft is required.
  • If the same cat is also entered in the Creative Cat class, a spiral tail with a tuft is permitted; however, judging will be based on the tuft only.
  • All claws must be clipped.

Grooming & Ring Procedure

  • All grooming for the Lion Trim class must be completed during the allotted competition time.
  • Each competitor will be allotted 1.5 hours to complete the lion trim.
  • Any creative elements added for the Creative Cat class are permitted but will not be considered during judging of the Lion Trim class. Judging is strictly based on correct lion trim execution.
